Karen Decker Senior Counsel, Vice President Underwriting and Legal, Stewart Title Guaranty Company (Canada)

After several years practicing real estate law, Decker joined Stewart in 1998 and quickly began developing an impressive expertise in title work. She started with the company as counsel, business development and underwriting, then moved up to vice president, underwriting, and is now vice president, underwriting and legal, chief privacy officer for Stewart’s operations in Canada. During her more than 16 years in the industry, she has gained extensive experience in Canadian commercial transactions and the Canadian component of multinational transactions.

Decker received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario and obtained her LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Ontario. She is a member of both the Ontario and Canadian Bar Associations. She is also an active participant in the Stewart Title Lecture Series and has spoken at the Canadian Bar Association’s annual conference.
