The recent robberies of Dallas, Texas-area agents hosting open houses was covered in an Aug. 9, 2002 Realty Times article, reinforcing the urgent need for all real estate agents to take safety precautions. Here are some general safety tips provided by the Greater Dallas Association of Realtors®:
- Know with whom you are dealing.
- Live by the three Ws: Tell someone whom you are with, where you are going, and when you will return.
- Always keep your cell phone with you.
- Trust your instincts.
- Have a pre-arranged distress signal.
- Always let the client led the way.
