HOUSTON (Aug. 27, 2003) - While corporate computer users were busy installing the patch and home users were getting hit hard, title agents using the Titlelogix Managed Solutions Partner (MSP) were safely continuing to work in their secure Titlelogix environment during the recent W32.Blaster/LoveSan worm attack.
Titlelogix MSP is a product of Landata Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Stewart Information Services Corp. (NYSE-STC).
The MS Blaster/LoveSan worm affects computers using the Microsoft® Windows® NT, 2000 and XP operating systems. During a tough week battling the worm, Trend Micro™ reported MS Blaster was the third most common virus infection worldwide. Symantec™ raised the threat posed by the worm to a Category 4 from a Category 3 threat, reporting that the virus had infected approximately 570,000 computers worldwide.
"We had installed the MS03-026 patch on the Titlelogix server during the weekend prior to the attack," said Richard Wilson, Titlelogix engineering manager, Landata Systems. "Our service levels, which guarantee 99.5 percent availability, were not impacted during the attacks. Our customers can be assured that they will have access to business-critical production through our Houston Data Center."
"While our network folks were helping us install the patch on our individual PCs, many of our users were able to access Titlelogix via the Internet to work on files from home," said Larry Thiel, IT manager with Executive Title Insurance in Cape Coral, Fla.
"Locally, we had an outbreak, but while we were installing the patch on our individual machines, none of our data on Titlelogix was affected," said Casey Robertson, IT manager, Stewart Title of California - San Diego. The office has a direct T-1 connection into Titlelogix, using the system primarily for AIM® for Windows® escrow production.
