Paul W. Hobby

Paul W. Hobby is Founding Chairman of Genesis Park, L.P., a Houston-based private equity business specializing in energy technology and communications investments. In this role, he provides management to some of Genesis Park's portfolio companies, including serving as Chief Executive Officer of Alpheus Communications, Inc., a Texas wholesale telecommunications provider, from 2004 to 2011; and as Chairman of CapRock Services, Inc., the largest provider of satellite services to the global energy business, from 2002 to 2006. Prior to Genesis Park, Hobby was Executive Chairman of Columbine JDS Systems, Inc., which became the largest provider of media software and services in the world when he conceived a strategy for integrating media operations through improved information technology.

Hobby was previously a Federal Prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice, and Chief of Staff to Texas Lieutenant Governor Bob Bullock. He has served on the boards of several publicly-traded companies, including NRG Energy, Inc., Amegy Bank, Eagle Global Logistics, Inc. and many others. Hobby is Chairman of the Greater Houston Partnership, past Chairman of the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and Vice Chairman of the Texas Ethics Commission. A graduate of the University of Virginia and the Texas School of Law, he has served the latter as adjunct faculty and was honored as an Outstanding Young Alumnus.
